Traces of the traditional winemaking and history can be found the harmony of smells and colours of these wines.
A bold and expressive red wine that embodies the richness of Southern Italy’s winemaking heritage. Sourced from the renowned Primitivo di Manduria appellation in Puglia, this wine showcases the depth, intensity, and warmth that the region is known for. Tradition is their way to talk about their origins by a glass of wine.
A land rich in history and culture. A land lived by ancient population that left their trace in centuries of history.
In the glass, it presents a deep ruby-red color with garnet reflections. The nose is intense and complex, offering aromas of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and plums, layered with notes of sweet spices, vanilla, tobacco, and a touch of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety, with a well-balanced structure, soft tannins, and a lingering finish that reveals hints of cocoa, licorice, and toasted oak.
This vintge benefitted from the warm Mediterranean climate, which allowed the grapes to ripen fully, concentrating their sugars and flavors while maintaining a good level of acidity. The DOP (Denominazione di Origine Protetta) status guarantees strict production standards, ensuring the highest quality and authenticity of the wine.
The Schiena Vini project was started in 1991 by Giuseppe Schiena, born and raised in a family of winegrowers. In 1993 he bought 30 hectares of vineyards in the countryside of Francavilla Fontana, known as the "Land of the Imperials".
Philip I of Anjou, Prince of Taranto, in 1310 founded and made his own a vast Empire embellished shortly after by a huge castle. This castle still dominates the Pampinei vineyards and iridescent olive groves already widespread in the times of Philip I. From its windows, it is easy to admire, in all its splendour, the magnificent Empire.
