Selection is the line under which this wine is made and that focuses on excellence.
Sourced from low-yielding bush vines (alberello-trained at 5,000 vines per hectare) and hand-harvested with care, this wine is crafted with precision at every stage. A Gold Medal winner at the prestigious Mundus Vini International Competition, it’s made exclusively from meticulously selected grapes using top-tier production methods. The result? A wine of exceptional quality—crafted for those who truly know and appreciate their wine.
The nose opens with ripe strawberry and red cherry, layered with sweet spice notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and freshly ground coffee. Purple drops full of glassy reflections fill the glass, while intense, pulpy aromas recall freshly picked fruits. On the palate, dense, round fruit flavours mingle with dried red fruits, baking spice, herbaceous undertones, and a delicate hint of tobacco leaf. The overall impression is smooth, expressive, and evocative. Dense scents caress the palate, dreaming of pleasant landscapes.
The Schiena Vini project was started in 1991 by Giuseppe Schiena, born and raised in a family of winegrowers. In 1993 he bought 30 hectares of vineyards in the countryside of Francavilla Fontana, known as the "Land of the Imperials".
Philip I of Anjou, Prince of Taranto, in 1310 founded and made his own a vast Empire embellished shortly after by a huge castle. This castle still dominates the Pampinei vineyards and iridescent olive groves already widespread in the times of Philip I. From its windows, it is easy to admire, in all its splendour, the magnificent Empire.
