About the wine

You can keep your pot of gold, this is the treasure at the rainbow's end. We know it doesn't sound that humble, but this is probably South Africa's finest Merlots. There we said it. There's no going back. This stops you in your tracks and makes your smile from ear to ear, just like a rainbow.

Tasting notes

The nose opens with enticing aromas of ripe plum, dark cherry, and blackcurrant, interwoven with hints of mocha, cedar, and a touch of spice. The palate is silky yet well-structured, with fine tannins and fresh acidity adding depth and vibrancy. A lingering, velvety finish leaves a lasting impression of finesse and purity.

About the winemaker

This is proper family endeavour. Dr Jacques Malan gave up his practice to pursue his love of wine. Now his son Anton makes the wine and his other son Francois tends the vines of the 22 hectare estate in Stellenbosch. The vineyards rise up from the valley floor to 550m above sea level high up the Jonkershoek Mountain.
