"Dolcetto"is a false friend here - this ain't sweet, it's fresh, fruity and a little bit floral.
About the wine
Don't get it twisted, "dolcetto"doesn"t make it a sweet wine. Dolcetto d'Alba is ruby-red and very fruity but with a totally dry, rich and harmonious flavour that leaves a lingering aroma of tangy almond. Almost 80% of it is drunk in northwest Italy (perhaps because the rest of the world keeps mistranslating the name), but this easy-drinking red deserves a wider audience.
Ruby-red and very fruity but with a totally dry, rich and harmonious flavour that leaves a lingering aroma of tangy almond. A typical Piedmontese wine: fragrant, moderately acidic and pleasantly tannic, preferably to be drunk within its first 2⁄3 years of life.
Tasting notes
The 2022 Dolcetto d’Alba from Podere Ruggeri Corsini opens with a fresh, fruity bouquet, offering notes of red berries and subtle floral hints. On the palate, it’s dry, rich, and well-balanced, with pleasant tannins, lively acidity, and a lingering finish marked by a delicate almond note. An easy-drinking yet characterful red with classic Piedmont charm.
About the winemaker
Loredana Addari and Nicola Argamante decided they'd enough of their jobs in the city, so they packed it all in, studied winemaking and bought a tiny vineyard in Monforte d'Alba. They upgraded the traditional estate into an eco-friendly haven by adopting lighter bottles, handpicking, solar panels and natural wastewater purification, and by massively reducing the use of chemical treatments and sulphur.
