Spicy, roses & dark fruit. Tiny land plot - nevertheless, a Barolo that sings.
About the wine
San Pietro is a 0.8 hectare south-east facing vineyard on clay/loam soil with 21 years old vines from the Southern Barolo DOCG cru of Monforte d'Alba at a height between 420 and 470 m above sea level.
The 2019 vintage of Barolo is widely regarded as a classic expression of Nebbiolo, benefiting from near-perfect growing conditions. The growing season was marked by a cool spring with adequate rainfall, which supported even bud break and vine development. A warm, dry summer followed, allowing the grapes to ripen gradually, developing intense aromatics and balanced acidity.
Tasting notes
For Bricco San Pietro 2019, these conditions translated into a wine of exceptional elegance and complexity. The vintage showcases precise fruit character, with vibrant red and dark berry notes complemented by floral and earthy nuances. The well-structured tannins and slightly higher acidity ensure excellent aging potential, making this a standout year for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
About the winemaker
Loredana Addari and Nicola Argamante decided they'd enough of their jobs in the city, so they packed it all in, studied winemaking and bought a tiny vineyard in Monforte d'Alba. They upgraded the traditional estate into an eco-friendly haven by adopting lighter bottles, handpicking, solar panels and natural wastewater purification, and by massively reducing the use of chemical treatments and sulphur.
