A wine so delightfully crisp and refreshing, it practically high-fives your taste buds and whispers, 'You deserve this, darling!'
About the wine
Planted in well-drained, weathered granite soils (mainly Tukulu and Hutton) with strong water retention, the three highest Sauvignon Blanc blocks capture the essence of both climate and soil in the fruit. These 8- to 9-year-old vineyards sit between 350m and 450m above sea level on the south-eastern slopes of the Simonsberg, where altitude and aspect bring freshness and complexity to the wine.
Tasting notes
Fresh melon, sweet grapefruit, and ripe Cape gooseberries lead on the nose, followed by an elegantly textured palate that mirrors those bright aromas. Layered with tropical fruit and lifted by a crisp, refreshing finish, it’s a cool summer’s day in a glass.
About the winemaker
Charles Marais, a Huguenot peasant from Le Plessis Marly in the Ile de France region wanted a better life for his family. They were plagued by drought, famine, crippling taxes and ensuing poverty. These factors coupled with religious persecution saw them setting sail for the Cape in 1687 where Charles and his family settled; that was the very beginning of Plaisir Wine Estate
The beautiful Plaisir Wine Estate is situated at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountain between Paarl and Franschhoek. The wines produced here are inspired by the harmony of a rich history, the fertile soil and lush vineyards.
