Luzy Macarez Pouilly-Fuissé Mont Des Buis, 2017, Mâconnais, Burgundy, France
£41.25 (inc VAT)
From vines on the slopes of Frances most staggering geologic monument.
Fresh and fruity on the nose but generous and a broad like your classic Chardonnay. We've seen this described as 'busty' and while we don't want to raise any eyebrows, this is ripe and ready for a roll in the hay.
After years of working as cellar master at a large winery in Mâconnais, Richard Luzy took what he'd learned started his own business with childhood friend François Macarez. Their vines grow on the slopes around the staggering Rock of Solutr̩é created from a fossilised coral plateau more than 160 million years ago, and home to viticulture since at least the Roman era.
