The winemaker's thoughts on the MCC NV Rosé

"The Rosé bubbly has broadened my approach to what is sought after in Cap Classique. My general rule is to ensure a balance of acidity, flavor, and fine mousse from the first sip, so as not to overpower the taste sensations and encourage another sip. With the Rosé, I find there needs to be more refined flavors. It takes more effort to create a bubbly with such expressive qualities that can still be enjoyed lightly. I am delighted by this next stage of Cap Classique development and believe it is evolving well. Shiraz from the Bot River area tends to exhibit more feminine qualities, producing world-class red wines with layered complexity. Now, these qualities are also being beautifully expressed in Cap Classique!"

Tasting notes

This Rosé showcases a beautiful salmon sunset color with a delectable fine mousse. On the nose, this wine offers enticing aromas of cherry, pomegranate, and strawberry, complemented by a refreshing sherbet popsicle and white peach. On the palate, vibrant flavours of cherry and pomegranate are balanced with juicy red grapefruit and white peach. The wine’s lively mousse adds to the experience, culminating in a lingering and silky finish.

About the winemaker

Genevieve MCC was inspired by the creator’s passion for good quality Méthode Cap Classique. Founder, Melissa Genevieve Nelsen, pursued her passion into the winemaking industry to develop the beautiful Blanc de Blancs MCC we know today.

The search for the perfect terroir and quality grapes led Melissa to Bot River, and there she discovered a beautiful pocket of Chardonnay, located in the Van der Stel Pass. Determined from the outset to make a sparkling wine of unsurpassed quality, and to continue to do so each year, Melissa’s original vision soon became a well-received reality.
