California is full of Rued Clones. This is the original.
To rue is to bitterly regret. Well there is absolutely nothing bitter about this and you certainly won't regret it if you try it. Warren Dutton planted this in 1969 and it has produced aromatic and floral wines of such high quality that cuttings from it, called Rued Clones, have been propagated across California.
Dutton Goldfield was born in 1998 out of a friendship between Steve Dutton, a 5th generation farmer who has worked on vineyards since the age of 5, and Dan Goldfield, a seasoned winemaker who has worked at Robert Mondavi and La Crema. Both loved the cool climate vineyards of Sonomas Russian River Valley and so decided to join forces.
