‘Waste not want not’ is the mantra that Humble heroes, Anne-Marie and Roland, live and breathe by, and Et Cetera is the final wine they make in every vintage. Et Cetera is made from 3 tiny parcels, La Bade, Les Buades, and Le Pont in the scorching heat of Minervois, which is solely worked by Anne-Marie, while Roland is the master in the cellar. Humble Grape’s pet varietal, Carignan, is whacked together with Grenache, and Syrah, rendering a reliable, albeit, dangerously smashable, glass of red to finish off a hard day’s work from the sofa.
Anne-Marie and Roland Coustal took the reigns of this tiny 12 hectare estate in 2001 from Anne-Marie's parents Lucette and Georges, hence the name. George was selling his grapes to a cooperative, but Anne-Marie and Roland thought the vineyards deserved the limelight of their own label. They are located in the heart of Minervois country mid-way between Narbonne and Carcassonne, in a region known as Balcon de L'Aude.
