About the wine
Crafted from a meticulous selection of five individual plots, this Saint-Émilion Grand Cru is all about precision and balance. Aged in French oak, it’s a wine that showcases careful winemaking and a clear sense of identity—elegant, structured, and built to impress without shouting.
Tasting notes
On the nose, this wine opens with layers of cassis, blackberries, wild strawberries, and redcurrants, alongside hints of graphite, rose, violet, and subtle oak influences like coconut butter and vanilla. Earthy undertones, chocolate, and forest floor add depth. The palate is fresh and juicy, with pulpy blackberry, raspberry, and crushed plum, lifted by floral notes and a touch of spice and tobacco. Balanced and structured, with precise, supple tannins and a long, elegant finish.
About the winemaker
The stunning Chateau Grangey dates back to 1756 on a beautiful hillside in St Emilion. With only 6ha of vineyards these small, but mighty, producers make some truly spectacular Merlot!
The Araoz family have been in charge since 1954 and soon got their Environmentally friendly agriculture certificate and are in process of obtaining their organic farming certificate.
