Made from vines fed by black rivers. Red flower blossoms & plums. Cinsault is back.
Blackwater Zeitgeist Cinsault is a vibrant and expressive take on one of South Africa’s most historic grape varieties. Sourced from dry-farmed, old bush vines across the Western Cape, this wine is all about purity, freshness, and effortless drinkability.
Blackwater Wines embraces a minimal-intervention approach, allowing Zeitgeist to capture the true essence of Cinsault—vibrant, honest, and irresistibly drinkable.
The nose is bursting with bright red berries, cranberry, and pomegranate, accented by floral hints and a touch of spice. Light on its feet yet beautifully structured, the palate delivers silky tannins, lively acidity, and a juicy, fruit-forward character. Aged in neutral vessels to preserve its energy and elegance, it finishes with a crisp, refreshing lift.
Francois Haasbroek is, in our opinion, the man who put Waterford Estate on the map and made it the Stellenbosch legend it is today. But he always had a dream of going it alone. So, after clocking out for the day, he’d set off in search of overlooked vineyards—the kind whose grapes would quietly vanish into big blends. Then, while the rest of the world slept, he’d stay up until 3 a.m., coaxing them into something special. A few hours later, he’d be back at Waterford, ready to do it all over again.
