750ml
Shiraz & Cabernet Franc. Made by a Frenchie on remote OZ island.
Take one French wine maker from Bordeaux called Jacques Lurton. Put him on Australia’s third largest island, just of the coast of Adelaide, with the local platypuses, koalas, penguins, wallabies and of course kangaroos. Add a crazy concoction of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Viognier grapes. Mix and serve. Ripe black fruit, chocolate, smoke, mint, spice and a little bit of bonkers.
In 2000 Jacques Lurton planted an 11ha vineyard near Parndana in Kangaroo Island's heartland and christened the estate 'The Islander'. Close planting to restrict yields and increase concentration, fermentation in concrete tanks and old fashioned basket pressing plus quality fine-grained French oak all combine to produce wines with great structure and longevity.
