"Dolcetto"is a false friend here - this ain't sweet, it's fresh, fruity and a little bit floral.
Don't get it twisted, "dolcetto"doesn"t make it a sweet wine. Dolcetto d'Alba is ruby-red and very fruity but with a totally dry, rich and harmonious flavour that leaves a lingering aroma of tangy almond. Almost 80% of it is drunk in northwest Italy (perhaps because the rest of the world keeps mistranslating the name), but this easy-drinking red deserves a wider audience.
Loredana Addari and Nicola Argamante decided they'd enough of their jobs in the city, so they packed it all in, studied winemaking and bought a tiny vineyard in Monforte d'Alba. They upgraded the traditional estate into an eco-friendly haven by adopting lighter bottles, handpicking, solar panels and natural waste water purification, and by massively reducing the use of chemical treatments and sulphur.
