Smooth, spicy, sprightly and as sure-footed as a mountain goat. Bartinney's vines teeter perilously on the satanically steep slopes of Helshoogte - Hell's Heights - Pass, but just like a mountain goat they never put a hoof wrong. A classic Bordeaux-inspired blend with a firm footing in our hearts.
Owner Rose Jordaan describes her wines as: "Wine made on a mountain" and that's no exaggeration. She repurchased the old family farm, situated precariously on the hellishly vertiginous slopes of the Helshoogte Pass, between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, in 2006 and has returned it to stunning form.
