Dutton Goldfield Cherry Ridge Vineyard Syrah, 2014, Russian River Valley, California, USA
£143.25 (inc VAT)
Cherry Ridge juts out over the west side of Green Valley and produces this dangerously drinkable Syrah.
herry Ridge juts out over the west side of Green Valley of Russian River Valley, on a south-facing hillside just north the Petaluma Wind Gap. It is both wonderfully scenic, and a great place to grow grapes. The proverbial "warm spot in a cold area" (because of its altitude and south face), Cherry Ridge is just temperate enough to ripen Syrah in a region best known for the cold-loving Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Dutton Goldfield was born in 1998 out of a friendship between Steve Dutton, a 5th generation farmer who has worked on vineyards since the age of 5, and Dan Goldfield, a seasoned winemaker who has worked at Robert Mondavi and La Crema. Both loved the cool climate vineyards of Sonoma's Russian River Valley and so decided to join forces.
