The J.M. Fuentes Gran Clos estate is planted with vines aged up to 100 years. Winemaker Josep Angel Mestre hails from nearby Falset, considered the capital of DOCa Priorat. Arid, rugged, and nearly surrounded by the cliffs of nearby Montsant Mountains, the region is famed for its licorella soils comprised of black slate and shale rock.
