Classic Aussie Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon blend but with European inspiration.
Boxing Bay is one of our favourite places on the planet. With an idyllic white sand beach tucked away in a hard-to-find spot only the locals know. It epitomises the perfect blend of ruggedness and beauty, just like this wine.
On the nose, this wine offers expressive aromas of blackcurrants, bay leaves, eucalyptus, mint, bark, and mocha. The palate is robust yet delicate on the front, showcasing full flavours of supple raspberry and boysenberry, lifted florals, vanilla oak, and clove spice. The finish is balanced, with fine-grained tannins and a lingering aftertaste.
In 2000 Jacques Lurton planted an 11ha vineyard near Parndana in Kangaroo Island's heartland and christened the estate 'The Islander'. Close planting to restrict yields and increase concentration, fermentation in concrete tanks and old fashioned basket pressing plus quality fine-grained French oak all combine to produce wines with great structure and longevity.
