About the wine
Bussia is a mere one hectare South West facing vineyard on clay/loam soil with an average vine age of 26-45 years old in the Southern Barolo DOCG cru of Monforte d'Alba. The fruit was hand -picked, completely de-stemmed and lightly crushed. Oak maturation in a mix of new, 1 and 2 year old French Barrels and seasoned Slovenian casks for 30 months.
Tasting notes
The 2020 Barolo Bussia from Podere Ruggeri Corsini offers a beautifully expressive nose, with layers of candied and bitter cherries, plums, strawberries, raspberries, and subtle floral undertones. Hints of milk chocolate, toasted nuts, and warm spices add further complexity. On the palate, it’s structured yet refined, echoing the fruit and spice from the nose with added depth and texture. Fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity give this Barolo both immediate appeal and the promise of graceful ageing.
About the winemaker
Loredana Addari and Nicola Argamante decided they'd enough of their jobs in the city, so they packed it all in, studied winemaking and bought a tiny vineyard in Monforte d'Alba. They upgraded the traditional estate into an eco-friendly haven by adopting lighter bottles, handpicking, solar panels and natural wastewater purification, and by massively reducing the use of chemical treatments and sulphur.
