Leopards & honey badgers wander through this eco-friendly mountain vineyard.
18-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon vines stand on the mighty precipice that overlooks the Banghoek skyline at 550M above sea level and make the Bartinney Skyfall Cabernet Sauvignon. If Bartinney ever had a "wine signature" it would be this jaw-dropping blackcurrant, aniseed, plummy, mint and a freshly opened cigar box juice that slumbers in 18 months in 70% new French Oak and 30% 2-year-old French oak before it roars in your glass. Watch out Bordeaux, Stellenbosch is comin' for ya!
Expect intense blackcurrant, ripe plum, and cassis, seamlessly layered with hints of cedar, dark chocolate, and spice from carefully integrated oak aging. The palate is full-bodied yet refined, with velvety tannins and a lingering, sophisticated finish. A wine crafted with precision and a deep respect for nature, Skyfall is bold yet balanced, powerful yet elegant—a true reflection of Bartinney’s commitment to excellence. Perfect for cellaring or enjoying with fine cuisine, this is Stellenbosch Cabernet at its best.
Established in 1912, Bartinney has been in the Jordaan family since 1953. Now Michael and Rose Jordaan tend to the 28-hectare farm, with a vision to create excellent wines and reawaken the charm of the historic land. And charming is right: perched on the dramatic slopes of Botmaskop alongside the Helshoogte Pass, overlooking the picturesque Banghoek Valley in Stellenbosch. Google it if you want to feel disappointed in the view from your own front window.
