The feminine side of Cabernet Sauvignon. She is subtly fragrant and gently flirtatious
One fascinating flavor in Cabernet Franc wines is a disarming aroma often described as bell pepper. In warmer climates, the aroma is a bit sweeter like roasted red pepper or cayenne spiced chocolate, but the pepper characteristic is notable. You’ll either love it or hate it.
This wine displays a dark rich garnet colour with hints of black. The nose reveals soft fruit aromas intertwined with overtones of green pepper and liquorice. On the palate, it is smooth and well-balanced, with the herbaceous and spicy notes characteristic of Cabernet Franc.
Family-owned and managed boutique winery, Mitre’s Edge, is nestled at the foothills of the Simonsberg Mountain, between Paarl and Stellenbosch. It is in this beautiful setting that winemaker Lola Nicholls, assisted by husband Bernard, focuses on producing relatively smaller quantities of high-quality, award-winning wines.
Bernard was a mechanical engineer before becoming the agronomist of the estate while Lola got her passion from her dad who was a viticultural expert.
