Allimant-Laugner Pinot Gris SGN, 2007, Alsace, France
£30.25 (inc VAT)
Team HG are rarely short of words. That is until we tried this noble beauty.
If you think the wine's name is a mouthful, wait until you get the wine itself into your cake hole, then we can talk about redefining the term. We had our mind set on Nicolas' sweet Gewürztraminer, but it was this noble rot Pinot Gris that left the whole Humble Team speechless. This wine is only produced twice a decade, but it is worth the wait to fill your mouth with it.
Nicolas Laugner's winery is a real family winery. Grandma Allimant married Grandpa Laugner giving the winery its name, but in fact the family has 12 generations of winemakers. They farm 12 hectares in Orschwiller, Northern Alsace, from which they make an incredible 15 different wines.
