Cellers Fuentes, Gran Clos Tinto, 2014, Priorat DOQa, Spain
£54.75 (inc VAT)
A deep, inky purple; a royal colour for an opulent, jaw-dropping wine.
Made in 1995. A decade later it placed #1 at the 2005 Priorat Wine Festival "Taste of the Decade“. And we think it’ll be great till well past 2030. So jump on board now, is our advice.
The J.M. Fuentes Gran Clos estate is planted with vines aged up to 100 years. Winemaker Josep Angel Mestre hails from nearby Falset, considered the ‘capital’ of DOCa Priorat. Arid, rugged, and nearly surrounded by the cliffs of nearby Montsant Mountains, the region is famed for its licorella soils comprised of black slate and shale rock.
