Massimo Rattalino Ten Langhe DOC Bianco, Piemont, Italy
£26.50 (inc VAT)
A flat out original _ the blend, the method, the taste.
Stop smelling salts and take a whiff of this unusual blend of Roero Arneis, Sauvignon Blanc and a cheeky dash of Riesling. Not convinced that this sucker is unusual? Malolactic fermentation is nowhere to be found in Piemontese wines, but Signor Rattalino's Ten Langhe offers a creaminess that isn't normally found in this region's white wines. To call this wine a crowd pleaser would be such a sin - just don't ask The Pet Shop Boys.
Land is land. Wine is wine. Massimos wines argue otherwise. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Alba, lies Massimo Rattalinos small vineyard in the recognised UNESCO World Heritage site, Barbaresco. Prudent and passionate for this legendary land, Massimo looks after his vineyards with the utmost care, and is guided by a respect for tradition.
