Château Puy Mouton Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, 2012, Bordeaux, France

A wine steeped in history and grown in a UNESCO world heritage site. But this Merlot has a refreshingly modern feel due to a dash of aromatic Cabernet Franc and and clever use of oak ageing, which have added dried herb and vanilla notes to a classic Claret.
Silky red berries, oaky spices, a Right Bank red that gets it very right. Here the plump fruity Merlot that did much to earn Saint-Ìämilion its UNESCO world heritage status, is given backbone, elegance and aromatics from a dash of Cabernet Franc and barrels crafted by four different producers. The additional dried herb and vanilla notes provide an extra dimension that screams out for a Sunday roast.
